The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Tomato Sauce
1 1/2C tomato juice
3 minced garlic cloves
1 chopped tomato
2tbsp butter
2tbsp flour
2tsp basil
1tsp honey
1tsp sea salt
1/4tsp pepper

In a large saucepan saute garlic in oil; mix in butter, then flour, then tomato juice and remaining ingredients. Simmer 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally; remove from heat and puree in a blender.
