The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Tomato Soup
1C water
1 1/2C tomato sauce
1/2C plain yogurt
1 chopped onion
2 peeled tomatoes
3 cloves minced garlic
1tsp oregano
1tsp sea salt
1/2tsp basil
1/4tsp pepper

In a large saucepan saute onions, garlic, oregano and basil in oil until the onions are clear. Add tomatoes and cook until soft, then add remaining ingredients and simmer 20-30 minutes; puree soup in a blender.

* Cooked pasta shells or elbow macaroni noodles may also be added
