The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Homemade Pie Shells
2C flour
1/2C butter
1/4C cold milk
1/2tsp sea salt

Mix together flour and sea salt, then mix in butter and milk (if too crumbly, add milk or water). Wrap in plastic or waxed paper and refrigerate 1hr. Knead for a few minutes, then place dough onto a lightly floured surface, roll dough out flat and cut each shell into circular shapes (about 1/4" thick by 12" across). Place each shell on waxed paper, stack and refrigerate in plastic bags or containers until ready to use, or for up to 3 days.

* Makes 2 pie shells or 4 pot pie shells
