Recipes

The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Oat or Barley Meal
1C water
1tbsp butter
sugar to taste
1/3C rolled oats or barley

Bring water to a boil, then stir in oats or barley and remove from heat; mix in butter and sugar.


For Apple Cinnamon Flavor: add 1/4C dried apples (chopped small), 1tsp apple powder, 1/2tsp cinnamon and 1/4tsp nutmeg

For Fruit Cream Flavor: add 1/4C dried fruit (i.e., bananas, peaches, berries, etc.; chopped small), 1tsp fruit powder, and cook barley or oats in milk instead of water

For Maple & Brown Sugar Flavor: add 1tsp brown sugar, 1/2tsp cinnamon and 1/2tsp maple syrup or maple sugar
