Recipes

The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Granola
1C flour
1C butter
1/2C honey
1/2C brown sugar
1/2C slivered almonds
1/2C sunflower seeds
1tsp vanilla extract
1/2tsp sea salt
3C rolled oats or barley
1C anything you want

Preheat oven to 350F. In a large saucepan mix together butter, honey and brown sugar; bring to a boil stirring constantly, then remove from heat, add vanilla extract and set aside. Stir together flour, sea salt, rolled oats or barley, slivered almonds, sunflower seeds and 1C of anything you want (such as chocolate, nut/seed butter or butterscotch chips, chopped nuts, seeds, dried fruit, etc.) in a large bowl. Combine and mix all ingredients together well, press flat into a greased cake pan and bake 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and cut into granola bars or break up into pieces for loose granola.
