The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Fried Green Tomatoes
4 sliced green tomatoes
1/2C cornmeal
1/2C flour
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2tsp pepper

Combine and stir together cornmeal, flour, sea salt and pepper in a bowl. Dip each slice of tomato in cool water, then the flour mixture, then fry both sides in oil over medium heat.


For Fried Zucchini: replace sliced tomatoes with sliced zucchini.
