The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Enchilada Sauce
2C water
1C tomato sauce
3tbsp butter
1 1/2tbsp flour
1 1/2tbsp chili powder
1tbsp onion powder
1 1/2tsp cumin
1tsp sea salt
1tsp garlic powder
1/2tsp tabasco sauce

Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in flour and chili powder, then cook 1-2 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
