The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Caramel Sauce
2C milk
1C honey
1C butter
1C brown sugar
1C white sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
1/2tsp sea salt

In a large saucepan mix honey and sugars together, then stir in butter and 1C milk. Bring the mixture to a boil, then stir in remaining milk and cook 1-2 hours or until caramel is at desired thickness, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, then mix in vanilla extract and sea salt.
