The following whole food recipes are principally vegetarian, although ingredients can always be added or substituted to make them vegan, or even non-vegetarian. (See pantry basics for information on customizing these and other recipes to suit your needs).

Any Fruit Crisp
8C chopped fruit
2C water
1C rolled oats
1/2C flour
1/2C white sugar
1/4C brown sugar
1/4C melted butter
3tbsp starch
2tsp cinnamon
1tsp lemon juice
1/2tsp nutmeg
1tsp calcium carbonate powder
1/4tsp sea salt

In a large saucepan combine and stir together fruit, water, fruit syrup, starch, nutmeg, lemon juice and 1tsp cinnamon; stir and cook over medium heat until thickened, then remove from heat. Separately combine oats (or barley) with flour, sugars, remaining cinnamon (1tsp), calcium carbonate and sea salt; mix in butter. Put fruit mixture in a baking dish or cake pan, top with oat or barley mixture and bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned and crispy.
