Disease Prevention (continued - p2 of 2)

Toxic substances enter the body via any orifice (such as the nose, mouth, eyes, ears or pores), and are primarily stored in the fat, nerves, nerve tissues, brain and liver. If more toxins go into than out of the body, they can build up and accumulate. Excess toxins eventually spill over into the bloodstream, suppressing disinfection and detoxification processes, increasing susceptibility to infections, illness and eventually, degenerative diseases. It can take years of toxic buildup before symptoms of toxicity show, but show they will. Naturally the body purifies, cleanses and detoxifies itself continually however, (by way of defecation, urination, respiration and perspiration), otherwise we could not survive. Infections, illness and disease likely never develop due to toxicity, so long as the systems of detoxification are not depressed by imbalances. To prevent the depression of these and other systems by imbalances, healthy flora populations should outweigh that of pathogenic germs, more toxins should be going out than in, and other imbalances should likewise be addressed.

Imbalances

The most fundamental principle of natural health and disease prevention is that all living beings have the capacity to heal themselves. Natural health and immunity does not require the use of drugs, toxins or surgery but instead makes use of this natural ability, which ultimately depends on one very simple thing: balance, or homeostasis. Aside from injury and genetic predisposition, there are several basic imbalances that in excess or over time can inhibit disinfection and detoxification processes, leading to increased susceptibility to infections, illness and eventually, degenerative diseases including all forms of cancer. Such imbalances include excess stress, germs or toxins, PH and nutritional imbalances, overly polluted air, deficient or excess rest, sunlight or exercise. A state of homeostasis can thus be achieved and maintained via 8 simple health factors: stress management, detoxification, ph balance, cyclic rest, daily sunlight, a nutritionally balanced whole foods diet, fresh air and daily exercise.

By preventing the imbalances that can increase susceptibility to infections, illness and disease, these eight simple health factors help build, maintain and restore health and wellness naturally, yet they are all too often underestimated for their simplicity. If the body is in a state of homeostasis, the immune system is strong enough to prevent overgrowth of pathogens, organs and systems of detoxification are able to neutralize or otherwise eliminate toxins effectively and efficiently, and medical conditions caused by imbalances other than excess germs or toxins are unlikely. Even with so little control over the genetic weaknesses we are born with, it is actually possible to reduce risks of passing on genetic weaknesses to our children and theirs, simply by achieving and maintaining a state of homeostasis and by teaching our children to do the same. If professional healthcare still becomes necessary however, nutritionists, herbalists and other natural holistic health care practitioners who do not use drugs or surgery are preferable to allopathic physicians and surgeons (except of course, in the case of a medical emergency).
