Living Green, Affordably
Living Green, Affordably
"Government, even in it best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we
suffer, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that WE FURNISH THE MEANS BY WHICH WE SUFFER... government is
the badge of lost innocence" ~ Thomas Paine (In Common Sense)
Green living doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Simply saving the resources we already have (and pay for)
allows us the means to start living green. Environmental conservation and eco-friendly, sustainable, self-sufficient
living not only helps preserve the earth and its natural resources, but it also pays for itself in the end by reducing
the need for money and time spent earning
money (to pay others to provide for us). Instead of paying for our dependence on and therefore subjection to human
providers, we can depend on nature to provide for us and future generations for free, so long as our living practices
are environmentally sustainable, economical and promote self-sufficiency.
"If we don't hang together, we shall surely hang separately" ~ Benjamin Franklin
Our political system takes a lot of time and red tape to make changes, but consumer spending habits can have an
immediate impact on the local, national and global economy. Individual lifestyles determine what individuals buy and
therefore which companies, products and services they choose to support financially, and otherwise. Given that all
individuals make up and contribute to the whole, it is logical to assume that the more of us there are buying earth
friendly products and services that enable our own self-sufficiency, the more companies there will be to produce such
products and services... and eventually, the lower their prices will be.
